5min read

What is the Divi Post Reading Time module?

Post Reading Time is a Divi 5 module in Divi Supreme Pro that estimates how many minutes a post takes to read and shows it as a small label, such as "5 min read". Add it to a post template and every article gets its own time.

Choose what to count: the post content, the excerpt, or custom text. Count words, or count characters for languages without spaces, where five characters count as one word. Set the reading speed, a prefix and suffix, an icon and its position, and hide the label when there is nothing to count.

Questions about Post Reading Time.

How is reading time calculated?

The module counts the words in the chosen content and divides by your Words per minute, rounding up to at least one minute.

What reading speed should I use?

200 words per minute is the default and suits most blogs. Use a lower number for technical writing.

What does Characters do?

It counts characters and treats every five as one word. Use it for languages that do not put spaces between words.

Can I count only part of the post?

Choose Post excerpt, or Custom content to count text you enter yourself. Custom content is not printed on the page.

Can I change the wording?

Yes. Set a Prefix, such as "Reading time:", and a Suffix, such as "min read" or "minutes".

Where should I put it?

In a Divi Theme Builder post template, usually next to the author and date.

Does it work with Divi 5 and WPML?

Yes. It is a native Divi 5 module, and the prefix and suffix can be translated with WPML.
